Our Wedding Ceremony

After a summer of sunny, 90 degree weather, I had a feeling our wedding day wouldn’t be like that. I woke up with it being overcast and misting outside. That morning Emily and I decided to get coffee and take a walk around Mirror Lake. We walked the lake and ended up meeting my mom and Chira, and we all went to the Mirror Lake Inn for my hair and make up appointment. I kept frantically checking the weather app on my phone hoping it would clear up for our 3:00pm wedding ceremony, and surprisingly it did by the time we were leaving the Mirror Lake Inn a couple hours later. One less worry for the day!

After that we headed back to our hotel room and ordered lunch and relaxed before it was time to get ready. I’m thankful my family was around because I was getting more nervous as the day went on. When we started getting ready my mom’s zipper on her dress broke almost all the way down the side of her dress. Emily started hysterically laughing, and I was left with safety pinning my mom’s dress together! I just remember my mom kept saying “I’m the one who is supposed to be helping you get ready!” lol! After scrambling to get ready we all got in our cars and headed to the ceremony location at the Lake Placid Lodge.

When arriving at the Lake Placid Lodge, I finally met my photographer, Jessica, who I absolutely love! Then the wedding planner came over to let me know everyone was getting settled and that Lance looked so nervous! (Glad we were in the same boat!) haha My dad and I headed downstairs to get ready to walk down the aisle. It was so special for me that my dad was walking me down the aisle to Lance who he has liked from the very first day he has met him. It meant a lot to me knowing I was marrying someone who my family loves just as much as I do.

We had a violinist and guitarist at our ceremony and cocktail hour. They played Rascal Flatts “Bless The Broken Road” while my dad and I walked down the aisle. When I reached Lance I heard him say to me “You look beautiful”, and I remember knowing this was the best day of my life. Lance and I decided to have a keepsake box at our ceremony which included our written private vows and memorabilia to open on our 5 year anniversary. Our ceremony was beautiful, and I can’t picture a single thing I would have done differently. I love looking at these sweet photos re-living our wedding day over and over again.

I choose you, to be yourself, loving what I know of you and trusting who you will become.

I will respect and honor you always and in all ways. I will be here when you feel like being quiet.

When you need to speak your mind I will listen, and I will be here, when the laughter turns to crying,
through the winning, losing and trying.

We’ll be together because I will be here, when the mirror tells us we’re older, I will hold you, and I will be here, to watch you grow, and tell you all the things you are to me.

Remember tonight for it is the beginning of always.

    1. Ashley, I so enjoyed reliving that day with you, all except the zipper breaking on my dress. Just so glad you can look back again and again on that special day.
