I’m starting to make homemade salad dressings more and more lately. You may have seen my homemade caesar dressing I made, here. Since summer is in full swing, I’ve been craving salads with alll the fresh produce. Lance and I visit our local farmer’s market on Sunday mornings to get our produce for the week. Everyday we either make a salad for lunch, a side salad for dinner or we cut up veggies as a snack to have at work. I’m really not partial to any type of dressing to have with my salad or cut up veggies, but ranch has always been a favorite (Lance’s too!). I have a habit of bringing our store bought salad dressings with me to work, and then leaving them in the fridge there. Then at night when I’m making dinner, and go to grab our store bought salad dressing out of the fridge only to realize I left it at work. Now I have a few homemade versions up my sleeve to make when those all too often occurrences happen!

How To Make Buttermilk To Add Into Homemade Buttermilk Ranch Dressing:

Buttermilk is something I never have in my fridge. I used to buy it at the store for a recipe, but then I wouldn’t use all of it and the remainder would sit and go to waste. One day I looked up how to make homemade buttermilk and saw all I needed was milk and lemons. This recipe calls for 1/2 cup of buttermilk, so I added 1/2 tablespoon of lemon juice and let stand for 5 minutes. When recipes call for 1 cup of buttermilk, I pour 1 cup of milk in a measuring cup, and then 1 tablespoon of lemon juice and let stand for 5 minutes. You have homemade buttermilk in minutes with staples already in your kitchen!

How To Make Homemade Buttermilk Ranch Dressing:

I never knew how easy it was to make homemade salad dressings. To make this Buttermilk Ranch Dressing all you do is add everything in a medium bowl and stir to combine. Store in an air tight container and refrigerate for up to 1 week. I love how the fresh parsley and dill really wake this dressing up! Paired with tangy buttermilk, you get that balance of fresh and tangy with this creamy and delicious dressing.

  1. Yum!! I also love making homemade salad dressings. I feel like the ones you buy at the store are just not as delicious as the ones you can make yourself.
