I learn something new about cooking everyday. Who knew homemade croutons were so good?? Seriously, I didn’t until a couple of weeks ago! It was really an eye opening experience for me…like why haven’t I been making homemade croutons my whole life? lol Since I just found out that homemade croutons are amazing, I’ve literally made them multiple times a week for the last couple of weeks.

How To Make Parmesan and Garlic Croutons:

The type of bread I used for the Parmesan and Garlic Croutons is ciabatta bread. I really like this type of bread, but you can certainly experiment with different kinds, such as sourdough or a hearty white bread. Combine the cubed bread, olive oil, lemon zest, minced garlic, grated parmesan cheese, salt and pepper in a bowl and stir to combine. Spread croutons on a baking sheet and toast them for about 10 minutes and you’ll have the best homemade croutons. Once they’re out of the oven, you’ll start eating them off the baking sheet, and then you won’t be able to stop. (Trust me!) Seriously they are the best things ever!

I can’t believe something so easy to make, is literally so good! I’ve been learning more and more that using fewer but good quality ingredients makes the best dishes. Besides the flavor, the texture is perfect. It’s crispy on the outside and still soft and chewy on the inside.

I have a bag of store bought croutons just sitting in my cupboard that I now regret buying, but I bought them before I started making homemade croutons. There’s no comparison in homemade vs store bought. I used to be a big store bought crouton girl, but now thinking back on it they were super hard and flavorless. I think I just liked them for added texture in my salad. Now I have this homemade version that I absolutely LOVE!
